Questions fréquentes

Is the speaking test the same in General Training and Academic?

Yes. Both tests take the same speaking test, with the same three parts and the same four criteria. Here you practise the same topics as IELTS Academic.

How long is the IELTS speaking test?

11 to 14 minutes, in three parts. Part 1 takes 4 to 5 minutes. Part 2 takes 3 to 4 minutes, with 1 minute to prepare. Part 3 takes 4 to 5 minutes.

How is IELTS speaking marked?

On test day an examiner marks you on four criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation. Each one counts the same, and your speaking band is the average of the four. Here our engine gives you a band for each one. It is calibrated to follow the official criteria as closely as possible, using state-of-the-art research models.

Is this speaking practice free?

Yes. You start for free, and your first score from our engine is free too, with a band for each of the four criteria. After that, scoring is part of Pro. You start with your email or Google account, and you don't need a card.
